Janis Ashkin, M.S., NCC, NCCC
Janis Ashkin is a nationally certified counselor and career counselor who provides career counseling and career coaching, career development workshops, and executive coaching to small and large corporations, federal government agencies, and college and university employees. She also works with individual job seekers through her private practice and has expertise in working with clients over 40 and federal government job search. Janis served as the GCDA President in 2001 and 2023.
Janis has a Master's degree in Counselor Education from Georgia Southern University and a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from the State University of New York at Fredonia. She also has certifications in health coaching, meditation, and Barre Above Fitness and supports clients by incorporating resilience, stress management, and healthy habits into coaching sessions whenever possible.

Carolyn Coburn-Allen, PRW, JCTC, CCSP
Carolyn Coburn-Allen is a retired Career Coach. Before her retirement, she coached career clients at Jewish Family & Career Services. In this role, she assisted job seeker clients in staging an effective job search through a workshop series and coaching. In retirement, Carolyn serves two non-profits, Neighborhood Cooperative Ministries and Better Work Gwinnett, as a Career Coach and advises on events and strategies for the organizations. Carolyn found her love of career services when she was recruited for the Georgia Aquarium and AmeriCold Logistics.
Carolyn holds a bachelor's degree from the University of South Florida in Management with a concentration in Human Resources. She is a Certified Career Services Provider (CCSP) through the National Career Development Association (NCDA) and a Certified Professional Résumé Writer through the Professional Association of Resume Writers and Career Coaches.

Alicia Philipp, M.S., LPC
Alicia is a Licensed Professional Counselor working as both a Therapist and a Career Counselor in private practice for more than 15 years. With Career Counseling, her focus has been both people in midlife, reconsidering their career plan, as well as clients as young as high-school juniors looking to made decisions about their first steps in their career plan.
Prior to being in private practice, she worked 5 years with a non-profit organization, providing career counseling to the general Atlanta community. Alicia received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL, and after working 7 years in Human Resources, returned to school to receive her Master’s degree in Community Counseling from Georgia State University. Alicia has been a long-time member of the Georgia Career Development Association, having served as a committee member at the start of GCDA during the 1998-2000 years, and more recently as a Director at Large in the years 2019-2021, and 2023-now.

DIRECTOR AT LARGE Laine Damon, M.S., NCC, CCC, LPC, DCC Lanie Damon has worked as a career management and development practitioner for more than 30 years, counseling adults and students in career decision-making and career transition. Her practice focuses on mid-career professionals and those exploring career pivots at any stage. Her professional background includes teaching at the undergraduate and middle school levels, recruiting, sales, consulting, supervising career counselors, and career coaching, advising, and counseling adults, undergraduate, graduate, and EMBA students. Lanie has worked in small entrepreneurial environments, for major Wall Street firms, in for-profit and private educational settings, in the federal government, and in public universities. Experience from these varied work settings and roles creates a broad base from which to ask probing questions and offer suggestions for exploration. She particularly enjoys working with clients around values and values clarification. Lanie holds an M.S. in counseling and a B.S. in secondary education from the University of Kansas. She is certified as a Distance Credentialed Counselor, a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Certified Career Counselor, a Certified Clinical Supervisor of Career Counseling, and Board-Certified Coach.
